About Us
While your author cares deeply about the trans community; I feel I must stress, I don’t care all that much about the SWP. For a long time, though I was upset with their tactics, the only thing I did about it was ignore them. However, I was driven to make this resource following interactions with SWP members at protests. Once too often I’ve been made to feel like these so called “socialists” are exploiting the free labour of me and my fellow activists. But, as a result of this largely being a recount of my personal experiences, it ultimately misses the larger picture of the SWP’s work across the UK. I believe they ultimately act to undermine the work activists do to fight not only transphobia, but also racism and xenophobia.
I know, for instance, that the SWP deploy the same tactics to silence trans people they don’t agree with, as they do to silence People of Colour who they don’t agree with. Choosing instead to platform white voices at anti-racism rallies over those with literal skin in the game. I think such actions are reprehensible, and disgusting, and should not be stood for.
And so, with the help of the community, I’m interested in broadening the scope of this little website from trans rights in the city of Manchester, to all the spaces in the UK which the SWP operate now, and into the future, until they effect real internal change.
